As many of you may, or may not, be aware Ultima runs 2 Dynamis shells. DynamisX being our open one, and SOAP being an LS/invite only shell primarily made for currency farming.
Due to lower attendance in SOAP, 3-4 of their last 5 runs have been cancelled for lack of attendance, it's remaining incredibly difficult for them to keep running.
In response to this the current plan is that starting in June they will be stopping their runs and attending with DX instead. In addition to this, as the thread title probably suggests, they will be getting a share of the sponsored runs.
I will be cutting back somewhat on my own sponsored runs, but the open sponsored runs will be cut back as well. While I realize those who do sponsor in DX may feel this is unfair I hope they will understand the reasoning behind it. I do hope to still have 1-2 Open sponsor runs a month, and because of the decreased number of these I would like to discuss any qualifications that should be placed on DynamisX members before they may be eligible to sponsor.
Currently there are really no requirements outside of 'actively' upgrading a weapon. I have a few thoughts considering additional requirements
1. Only allow open sponsors who have participated in at least 50% of the runs during the last month.
2. Require open sponsors to have finished the first 2 stages of a relic weapon, this amounts to about 1500 currency on their own, an investment of about 15m at today's rates. Considering it costs upwards of 75m to upgrade a relic if someone can not afford this initial amount in either gil or through earned currency then they have not made significant progress on their weapon.
3. Require open sponsors to have a certain amount of points in order to random for sponsor, perhaps 16. It would not cost any points to sponsor they would just be used to demonstrate long attendance.
Thoughts on these?
To those who may feel this is unfair I would like to point out a few things. First of all, this is hardly a 'good' deal for SOAP, in previous months they would have 8-9 Dynamis runs a month to sponsor, that number will end up being reduced to probably 3. While that is better than none it is still a significant decrease.
Also, only a handful of people in DX ever random to sponsor, a number of times in recent months I have had to sponsor because nobody at the run wished to. With the implementation of requirements behind who open sponsors can be I hope that overall those who are regular DX attendees who wish to sponsor will still see about the same number of times they *win* sponsoring. Some of those who do occasionally sponsor would likely end up being unable to if more requirements for it were put in place.
100 notes will remain able to be lotted. This will not change, although the current plan in place for giving the first 100 bill in Northlands zones to the sponsor will remain in place.
My apologies for the neccesary changes, although I believe the majority of those attending will not be affected by this at all.
