In light of Halmarut’s reveal about the Solstice, does anyone else find themselves suddenly drawn back to this particular moment near the end of the pandemonium raids? Particularly that of truths revealed only in death once the soul has returned to the aetherial sea (the star) as we saw with Emet at the end of EW after he recovered his memories. Elidibus’ scene, however, (the potential glimpse of a future yet to unfold) feels especially important now in light of recent developments in the story (assuming he didn’t already know something about the potential Solstice which I don’t think he did) and the future of the Source’s inhabitants and those on the remaining reflections.

Which brings me to my second question:

Does it seem likely, now with our focus set on finding a solution, the connection between the aetherial sea and the planet itself, the very same planet now trying to make itself whole again, that at some point the WoL will have to venture down into the aetherial sea to ‘confront’ those truths? I say this because as it stands in the story the WoL is in need of a third approach that (hopefully) differs from the chaos of a regular rejoining and what would be a mass extinction event brought on by the Solstice. So it got me thinking about the Source and where, if anywhere, the WoL might find an answer if not within the star itself. Now I don’t think this means the WoL is going to actually die in order for these ‘truths’ to reveal themselves but I do believe there is more yet to be understood about the Solstice and Etheirys itself than even Halmarut herself is aware of. Add in the addition of the key (if not created by Azem themselves, then something they most likely had a hand in designing) and this idea we must ‘unite the stars unto one’, I could see a potential third option where a bridge or something reminiscent of a tree of life (*stares at Meracydia*) is installed in the vacuum left behind by Hydaelyn where the energies and lifestreams of each shard are connected in one singular flow. Less of a stasis, but still not a total merging of worlds.

Sorry for the long post! This moment with Elidibus has stuck with me for years and the potential for the WoL to possibly going on a journey through the lifestream to uncover more truths about the star that predate even the Ancients themselves to be a fascinating approach if ever explored.
