[Spoiler 7.4 Cosmic Exploration] For a while now I thought the progress tracker made no sense however I now have visual confirmation of how it DOES ma

So Tonberry this morning met the progress criteria to complete Phase 23 of the Oizys Project. This was a Cosmoliner expansion so it automatically completed with no fate. 30 minutes later a Fate Alert popped to upgrade the main base, and another 30 minutes later the fate began. Now Tonberry failed this first attempt and cleared it on the retry 10 minutes later (it was 5am in Japan and 7am in Australia so no one was awake/gaming)

Upon completion of a project the NPCs stand around patting themselves on the back, taking photos etc for 30 minutes before the zone updates and a new progress tracker appears.

So we can see only two distinct things happened: the Cosmoliner upgrade and the main base upgrade (which included upgrades for the mech hangers). All this somehow constituted **4 Phases of the Project**

The next upgrade on Tonberry will be Phase 27. So somehow Phases 23, 24, 25, 26 were all cleared. This made no sense. However upon looking at the tracker I made note of an NA world at a slightly further behind point. Which is image 1. Phase 26 was listed upon completing the Fate, which the Fate itself I am assuming was Phase 25. Meaning Phase 24 was the 30 minutes between the Cosmoliner auto-completion and the start of the Fate to upgrade the base.

Which still made no sense? You mean the NPC's standing around taking pictures constitutes a phase of construction. But no. Luckily I take a comically large about of screenshots. I basically archive the entire game for myself. So I went and checked and sure enough there I am standing in front of a giant hole on the roof with construction barriers surrounding it with the Phase 25 title in my quest tracker on the right (Image 2)

However I noticed in the little doohickey we tracked the progress in, the roof looked different? It had spires. Were they just previewing the next stage? Whelp I logged in, went back to the roof and no, the roof had changed (Image 3). There are partially constructed Spires.

What this means is for some reason, which I can only chalk up to the level designers for Cosmic Exploration having a high dedication to "immersion", there exists a gameworld state, not just npc positioning but actual physical map changes, that **only exists for the 30 minute window between when you finish a milestone upgrade Fate, and the preparation stage for the next milestone upgrade Fate**. An entire gamworld state with hitboxes and collisions whose only purpose is 30 minutes of set dressing. Cause now in the current world state I can walk on the areas inside those construction barriers

But it gets just a little odder cause the "replay video" you unlock for this stage shows the roof in the state in image 2. But this state in image 3 will only exist until we complete Phase 27. The completion video for Phase 27 will show the completed spires.

So this half-complete stage it is currently it will disappear forever with no proof it exists outside screenshots like these.

I guess on the upside it means all the memes from Cosmic Exploration players are technically incorrect the NPC's do actually do work on the project. It just only exists in game for 30 minutes

Even if for most people Cosmic Exploration isn't the most exciting content, you just have to applaud the amount of attention to detail the devs are putting into setting each "stage" to look like consistent gradual progress.
