Many were visibly upset about Monday's run being later then usual. While I wholly agree that people should be on time, there is a physical law in FFXI that shit happens and a group moves as fast as its slowest member. However, I do sympathize with people who have work/school/must get up early/etc. in the morning. As a leader, while I can set a time frame for people to gather, it's very difficult to enforce such a rule.
Einherjar is a team effort. The time constraints established are rather stringent and attendance is extremely vital. This is the reason I have not been harsh and choose to wait for people who are late. My defense on this issue comes in the form of a question: What is the point of rushing to Odin only to lose and waste three weeks or more work due to leaving everyone who is late? I have seen how low numbers can create many set backs when it comes to the T3 phase and I will do anything in my power to avoid past occurrences.
With that said, I am evaluating the ethics of implement penalties and reward for being late and early, respectively. In the mean time, I ask everyone to be more considerate and punctual for gather time. The ideal gather time is 10 PM EST and the ideal start of Einherjar is 10:30 PM EST.
To iterate, I do sympathize with those who cannot afford to stay up late during a weekday. However, I cannot guarantee that we will always get the event done promptly. With that reality, it is up to you to decide if you can afford to stay in the group or choose to leave at your own choosing. Let it be known that you are free to leave and none of us will think the lesser of you. I'll echo it as many have done: Real life takes priority before FFXI. Make the right choice. If you decide to part with us, let me know. Should you continue to persevere with us, please bear in mind that we may not always start on time, but we will get the job done and I am working harder on starting punctually.
Finally, I want to again and again remind people to be early or on time. I am making changes to Limbus to facilitate this idea into reality for Ultima members. At any rate, continue the good work as usual.
