Raid Static PF Etiquette Question

Hi. I am not sure if this is the best place to post this but oh well.

I recently joined a static in my FC for a beginner casual group to do savage this tier. None of us save me (did like 1/3rd of m5s) and one other guy (also barely did any m5s) have even touched savage before this.

My problem, and question, comes from what they did when someone left the static so we had to find a replacement. We lost one of our melee DPS, so we couldn't raid for a week. Cool, fine, I'll just maybe review the guide to keep it in my mind fresh and we can go at it again the next week. But some of the other people in the group were really focused on getting their books for the week, and went ahead and PFed a bunch and made a bunch of progress, one even clearing, before any of us had even made it halfway thru the fight.

We ended up clearing m9s for the first time this past week which was cool, but I couldn't help feeling like it was cheapened a little bit by half of our group having already cleared it and progging m10s while the other half was first time clearing m9s.

I guess I'm just curious if that's normal for a "casual" group? It kinda rubbed me the wrong way as I wanted to progress as a group and all clear at the same time and all that. I'm thinking of leaving and maybe trying to find a group that lines up more with what I wanted out of raiding for this tier.

I already know the answer is most likely "it depends and you should have talked to your raid lead/group about expectations" but I did and it seemed like this wouldn't be an issue but here we are. Feels kinda lame, idk. Thanks for reading my rambles :)
