I wanted to voice some opinions and feedback about the current expansion, as I feel there's a struggle with Dawntrail.
My problem isn't so much that content quality has been bad (with some exceptions, of course- looking at you MSQ). But rather the approach SE has had towards it's "advertise" , "hype", and "release" structure.
There's currently talk about content too soon, then release it too late, causing what I'll point out as a "overhyping" happening by in admittedly no small part by the community.
We're at 7.3, more than a year after DT's launch, and haven't seen the end of either raid story, Beastmaster, Deep Dungeon, Unreal Trials (*Citation Needed), Variant Dungeon(s)
Granted, SE needs time to work on stuff, however for example- we had Pilgrim's Traverse advertised for 7.3 (and yes, I'm grouping .x and .xx patches together) and it's been 2 months since 7.3's release. I would rather ask that content is released as a whole on the .x patches. And recommend a "Strike Team" of sorts to both make, release, and deal with bugs for "quick release" content (Ex: Unreals, Treasure Dungeons, New Fates, Maybe a dungeon or two? The Viera/Hrothgar hats and chat bubbles?)
I also have problems with current content design. Take Occult Crescent for example. While the new area was great to look at, I feel like we could've had a tower situation (Like at the end of shadowbringers) all across Tural trying to figure out why a Forked Tower appeared and why it's causing some drastic changes to the wildlife and terrain. Fate grinding all across the continent, special duels/fates within the Tural/Yak'Tural to handle phantom actions that have been unearthed and then still had the megadungeon to fight our way into.
Currently, Tural's been the biggest Screensaver content farm this side of Endwalker, Mirroring Shadowbringers. Lots of pretty area, but then abandoned for instanced content.
I like battle design currently, and hope SE continue to improve, bugs have been stable this expansion without too much breaking, and armor design (when released for a change) has been really good IMO, I like the new materials being included like felt and that "plasticky" windproof jacket material we got. Armors are less pixelated- Frickin' Mint. And voice acting has been improving.
