Point System Questions - Continued

I wanted a seperate post to ask some of these questions since the last post is a bit derailed by the end.

Do people think bonus points are appropriate for some areas?

1) 1/2 point for organizing a run.
2) 1/2 point for all members attending a successful Xarcabard clear.
3. 1/2 point for those attending a successful attestation/animated weapon run.
4. 1/2 point for successful CoP clear.

Feel free to provide input on these. I am not sure if i want all of these, or any of these, implemented and would like to know what people think.

whole numbers. yes, please.

On that note, sure make it 2 points. What the hack?

As for 2 points for organizing, might be highly unfair, since only a handfull of people do so. Since DX is Ultima run, as I've heard in the past, only Ultima members have organized up to now. Not sure I'd be up for changing to outside hands. However DX is your shell Garbear, your choice.

All the others sound fine.

#1 seems unfair for reasons Sass stated. The rest I can't argue with.

I understand the reason behind the 1/2 point for organizing a run, but it's a bit dangerous. Until non-organizers have attended enough runs, organizers will have a large advantage on some runs. Large enough to the degree that only organizers will have enough points to lot an AF normally, so they're guaranteed first shot at an AF.

For instance, after the first 6 runs non-organizers can have 6 points and organizers can have 8-9. That's enough to claim any beaucedine AF, xarcabard AF, or shadow item over non-organizers. Non-organizers would still be in the 4-tier while organizers are in the 8-tier for AF/shadow distribution. This could happen for one run when organizers hit the 4-tier, two when they hit the 8-tier, five at 16-tier, and I think seven for 20-tier items.

I can see why a small bonus might be reasonable for organiziers. I just think we'd need to be careful as we start out, before people could possibly have enough points to lot an item for its full point value. And as others mentioned, it would need to be opened up for non-Ultima people to organize, which causes its own issues.

If you did decide on an organizer bonus, I'd propose that we keep track of them separately, and that they aren't initially used for lotting AF until enough runs have gone by. So after we've done 4 runs, organizers could use those extra points for city AF but not yet for beaucedine/xarc. After 8 runs have gone by, the points could be used for beaucedine, etc.

It's more complicated, but the nice part of this idea is that after 20 runs, the rule goes away forever and the organizational points are merged in. It's just during the initial ramp-up that we'd need to think about organizational bonus points separately. Those organizing would still get the benefit of the extra points they've earned, but the points won't kick in until enough runs have gone for the main mass of people to have a shot.

Or maybe just forget the complexity and scrap the organizer bonus. It's the only bonus that a single person gets instead of all of the run's attendees. Maybe better just to drop it.

And I agree with the others that fractional points are a pain. ^_~ Better to scale everything else and stick with whole numbers.

0.1 points for organizing, problem solved. Until the 10th run with DynamisX, the organizer wouldn't even be ahead in points at all.

Organizing takes a ridiculous amount of work, and the whole idea behind the point system at all is to reward people for their hard work for the shell, I definitely think organizing a run qualifies.

Also, I'm surprised to see so many people saying fractional numbers are hard to deal with. What makes it hard? lol Even if you suck at math, Microsoft Excel doesn't. You could achieve -exactly- the same effect by scaling the points up, but you have a much finer level of control over points with fractional points, and you don't have to do something stupid like make Dynamis - Xarcabard AF worth 750 points, and organizing worth 7 points, one run worth 12 points, etc.

Yes on #:
1
2
3

No on #:
4 - CoP cant take 60 people and many dont sign up in time, dont think itll be nice to reward half the Dx group when the other half is left in the dust.

and half points are only tough if you make them tough as kalia said.

How about

1 bonus point for successful clears of Xarcabard, Animated Weapons, Attestation NM's, Glacier Clears.

All of these effectively sap time out of farming for specific objectives and require a degree of effort over other standard areas & objectives.

Point for organizing run would be really unfair.

In every situation, you have a choice, which is rewarded by point. You choose to come to a run or not. If you come, you get a point, if you don't, you get nothing. Furthermore, everyone has a chance to get a point by coming, clear Xarcabard or a CoP Dynamis. Here, only one person would get a bonus point.

Organizing a run isn't a choice. Garret does it everytime. He doesn't ask if someone wants to organize it instead of him, so random people could actually have a chance to get a bonus point.
And I don't think I'd want some random person (me include) to try and organize a run. I know how organizing a random event can suck, so I don't want to wait 2 hours because someone is having a rough time to organize 50 to 64 people.

It sure sucks for Garret to organize every single run we've done, he does a great job, but I don't see why he, or anyone, would get one more point over everyone else.

Varda also has lots of good point.

actually rewarding the organizer with a point would be more than fair. its a ridiculous amount of work and stress to run dynamis, if you have the gall to say that garret doesnt deserve some reward for putting so much time and effort to ensure that the valefor public has a successfull dynamis twice a week... then you sir need to stay away from DX and all matters concerning it.

I would say they all look fine but No.4 since you can only take so many people there...

LOL.. I think Garret should get first lot on any thing he wants for organizing all this time. I'm biased, I freely admit it.

He has horrible luck with AF2, so rightfully so :tounge-1:
