I understand the reason behind the 1/2 point for organizing a run, but it's a bit dangerous. Until non-organizers have attended enough runs, organizers will have a large advantage on some runs. Large enough to the degree that only organizers will have enough points to lot an AF normally, so they're guaranteed first shot at an AF.
For instance, after the first 6 runs non-organizers can have 6 points and organizers can have 8-9. That's enough to claim any beaucedine AF, xarcabard AF, or shadow item over non-organizers. Non-organizers would still be in the 4-tier while organizers are in the 8-tier for AF/shadow distribution. This could happen for one run when organizers hit the 4-tier, two when they hit the 8-tier, five at 16-tier, and I think seven for 20-tier items.
I can see why a small bonus might be reasonable for organiziers. I just think we'd need to be careful as we start out, before people could possibly have enough points to lot an item for its full point value. And as others mentioned, it would need to be opened up for non-Ultima people to organize, which causes its own issues.
If you did decide on an organizer bonus, I'd propose that we keep track of them separately, and that they aren't initially used for lotting AF until enough runs have gone by. So after we've done 4 runs, organizers could use those extra points for city AF but not yet for beaucedine/xarc. After 8 runs have gone by, the points could be used for beaucedine, etc.
It's more complicated, but the nice part of this idea is that after 20 runs, the rule goes away forever and the organizational points are merged in. It's just during the initial ramp-up that we'd need to think about organizational bonus points separately. Those organizing would still get the benefit of the extra points they've earned, but the points won't kick in until enough runs have gone for the main mass of people to have a shot.
Or maybe just forget the complexity and scrap the organizer bonus. It's the only bonus that a single person gets instead of all of the run's attendees. Maybe better just to drop it.
And I agree with the others that fractional points are a pain. ^_~ Better to scale everything else and stick with whole numbers.
