Wanted to bring this up to the devs that another stalking like plugin, similar to PlayerScope, has been created and released out into the word. This plugin tracks the following:
- Name changes
- Free Company history
- Full character data
- Alt characters (biggest one)
All one needs to do is install the plugin and walk nearby any other player. It might be even within the same zone but I am not willing to personally test out the range and just how far it can reach.
The developers of said plugin say you can hide yourself but you need to either: A) join their discord server and toggle "Hide Entirety" or submit a takedown request via email on their website.
This only causes further issues where they now have your discord information, or at least an account attached to your FF14 character, as well as they can still collect data, they just wont show it via the website search. The mods and developers can all see the back end information regardless if you submit a takedown request/hide yourself.
I'm not sure why this information is being sent publicly client side and continues to allow bad actors to create stalking plugins such as this. I had thought it was fixed when the account ID information was removed from being sent when the PlayerScope plugin situation occurred but something else must have changed for these developers to be able to grab that information once more.
