| | Last night my FC decided to do something a little cursed and a lot awesome: Retro Raid Night. Rules were simple:
The goal? See mechanics in Crystal Tower that we’ve literally never seen before. Were we successful? Heckin’ yeah, we were. The hardest part of the entire raid? The VERY FIRST TRASH PULL. We charged in like we were still wearing our comfy level 100 gear and got absolutely flattened. Twice. Turns out when you’re basically a bunch of baby jobs in AF gear, you actually have to mark targets, pull carefully, and respect incoming damage. After two wipes, we slowed down, adjusted, and found a strategy that worked (mostly). It was hilarious and humbling in the best way. Second hardest fight: King Behemoth, no contest. Towers? Electricity debuffs?? Tornadoes??? I genuinely had no idea these mechanics even existed. Turns out when you can’t just delete the boss, Crystal Tower actually expects you to… play the fight. Final thoughts Total time: ~1 hour 20 minutes Total fun: off the charts Total respect gained for early FFXIV design: huge Running Labyrinth this way made incredibly familiar content feel completely fresh. We weren’t speedrunning, we weren’t zoning out. We were learning, adapting, and laughing the whole time. If you’ve got an FC or group of friends and want to experience CT the way it was meant to be played, I highly recommend a Retro Raid Night. 10/10, would wipe to trash again. And plan to in a couple weeks with a Retro Raid Night of Syrcus Tower. What are those platforms surrounding Glasya Labolas for? We don't know, but we're gonna find out! Bonus: Cursed Glam Contest. Winner will be decided by vote by 10PM Eastern tonight. https://preview.redd.it/zivs06jrk67...bp&s=864e39c876ff0eacfd03bce5889a29036ce299ff submitted by /u/annissamazing [link] [comments] |
