Mechant's Tale (Adanced) boss mechanic not scaling to group?

So I don't know if that's a bug, but in the advanced version of a Merchant's Tale, Pari The Plenty boss (the fire carpet one) will have a mechanic which makes her turn on ourselves while also make 4 tethers one at a time, where you have to switch the tethers else you die because of a debuff.

Problem is, we did the Advanced version with 3 players (the game description says Advanced can be done with 2-4 players), and had no problems until that point, because the boss gives 4 tethers no matter how many players are in the group.

So, is it a bug? Should the boss give 2-4 tethers depending on the amount of players? Cause if you try it with only 2 players like the game says, it's a sure wipe.
