As a Final Fantasy XIV player, I really value the freedom the game offers by allowing a single character to explore multiple classes. However, when it comes to leveling sub-classes for the Disciples of War, I feel the options become very limited. In practice, the process almost always revolves around repeating dungeons through the Duty Roulette, which over time becomes tiring and lacks immersion.
The Duty Roulette is important and does its job well, but I don’t think it should be the only truly viable way to progress. FFXIV has always stood out for the variety of activities it offers and for its strong connection to its world and story, and that feeling gets lost when leveling turns into pure dungeon repetition.
That’s why I see Level Quests as an excellent alternative for the Disciples of War. They already work very well for the Disciples of the Hand and Land, providing consistent, rewarding progression that feels integrated into the world of Eorzea. Actually, I just loved leveling up miners and botanists for them, and I thought the EXP given was really good, and I liked being able to play the game without having to do the same DGs and trials over and over again every single day. Bringing this same system to combat classes, with a truly competitive amount of EXP, would add more immersion and give players a real choice in how they level their jobs.
This change wouldn’t take away from the value of dungeons, but it would make the leveling system more balanced and far less exhausting. Having viable options beyond the Duty Roulette would make leveling sub-classes more enjoyable, more varied, and more in line with what makes Final Fantasy XIV such a special game.
