Just finished the Stormblood Dark Knight quests… wtf was that?

So, was Myste… you, somehow? Like how Fray was you in the 30-50 quests? I don't get it.

Why did your soulstone break?

Myste seemed (at least ambiguously) sympathetic up until that ghost failed to make it to Rhalgr's Reach. Then all of a sudden he started killing animals and summoning everyone you ever killed for no reason! Why? What moral purpose were the writers trying to convey? Are we supposed to feel remorse for killing the Knights of the Heavens' Ward? That seems completely contrary to the themes of the Dark Knight quests leading up to this.

If Myste is you, why does he have a face? And why can everyone see him?

I think of myself as a pretty media-literate person, but those quests were the first time in this game I felt genuinely confused. As a side-note, I found the 60-70 Samurai quests to completely contrary to the political themes of the game. Were Stormblood job quests just a miss overall?
