I no-lifed this expansion beginning to end over the past 8 days and have just finished it. Going to be slowing my pace down drastically now but I wished to get ARR out of the way so that the road ahead can be supposedly smooth sailing. Fyi I did pay attention to all the MSQ story, I didn't do side quests besides all of the blue unlocks for pre lvl 50, paladin quests, gladiator quests and maybe a couple immortal flames quests. I enjoyed the story on a passable level for what it's worth, the only point I was truly lost (as in not vibing much at all) was the beginning portion of Post ARR, with having to fight 3 new primals with much less story associated to them on top of having to jarringly re-do the previous 3 primals on hard as well. That was my main low point, overall, I enjoyed the story itself like a 6/10. Also, from what I know the voice acting gets better after this, but a voice who truly felt like it marked actually great voice acting in this game was Aymeric from Ishgard. He was seriously really good.
I haven't played a game like this at all before in both it being an MMO and with how its combat works as well as the quest design, but I found it quite addicting; i still need to figure out an optimal button binding and rotation for the abilities though. I am curious how jarring the quality difference immediately in heavensward might be, but it might not; that's just how it feels from how cast aside I've seen ARR from the other expansions. The 2nd to last chapter with its seemingly hour long cutscene sequence excites me for what the future expansions will have in store with cutscenes that's for sure. I'm also hoping along with better voice acting that more dialogue is voiced than in ARR where it's about 10% of scenes. Aymeric, Alphinaud and Warrior of Light are my 3 favourite characters. My favourite ost is " thicker than a knives blade ". I'm hoping the ost gets expanded upon a lot going forward too. The facial expressions in the long cutscenes were great also. Lastly, Brendt is the goat.
