I'm looking for a new game to play with my husband. I think ffxiv could be it, but to get my husband to try something new, I have to be really sure to convince him. He tends to stick with one game for years, and I tend to jump around a bit more.
In recent years the games we've played together are 7 Days to Die and Ark. I like the gathering/base building aspect or doing quests from the traders in 7 Days. He likes to build, but more likes killing zombies or going into the dungeons in Ark. He will play whatever current game (7 Days right now) every single day. I will jump in and out of different games each day depending on my mood.
I have played MMORPGs on and off for years. I loved RuneScape (both Old School and even RS3) and played exclusively for many, many years almost from the first year it came out. I'm currently having fun with Guild Wars 2, but I don't like how the crafting skills are limited to 2 (or 4) for each of your characters. I tried getting back into RS, but it's just been too long, I think.
I would like to spend most of my time gathering, crafting, leveling up jobs or lifeskills. Like RS. I also really like doing quests. I don't mind going around and hunting creatures, etc., especially to get supplies for crafting. I'm sort of meh on dungeons, but will do them if I have to progress.
My husband played Diablo (1, 2, and 3) a lot back in the day, so I think ffxiv could be a good fit from what I've been reading. He likes his games to be more active like that.
We're downloading the free trial, which I know we won't be able to party up, but at least we can run around together and try things out. I think??
Is this a good game for us? Me to do more slower crafting/skilling/exploring stuff and for him to run around and kill things?
