I came to the sub with the millenia-old question: Still Worf Playin?™ I'm going to provide my reasons for playing and my concerns in a non-exhaustive list, and you can join in replies for your monthly dose of Internet discussions + sprout recruitment I am really conflicted. On one hand, I love everything about FF14 (and FF in general). I have loved exposure to the series since I was a kid, and FF14 is a cherry on top. A wide world full of diverse players, so much activities to do and amazing, I mean amazingggggg visual style. I'm a huge fantasy lover and a DND nerd, but if I had to name my favourite fantasy universes, FF14 would be somewhere in top 5. On the other hand, I joined in 2022, briefly rejoined in 2025 and... It just never stuck, lol. Now, I don't have friends to play with and I'm anxious about not finding any. The community has always been very welcoming but not friendly in my personal experience. You are probably typing "then play the trial" already which is fair but 50% of enjoyment for me lies in the multiplayer experiences + not being able to fully use chat was simply humiliating as I remember. I am also kind of employed now and I have no clue how many years it would take me to complete the MSQ hours... Which is why I'm curious, how are my chances to even enjoy the game? How alive is the fanbase in 2026? Are all data centers alive or do some produce kricket noise? How old is the playerbase on average? Do you like the recent updates (because the amount of negativity I've seen is astonishing)?
