So I am on the last 7 quests of ARR, and it is honestly a slog of how fast I can run through these quests. The story hasn't really been grabbing me, I am on one of the preferred plus realms, so I have a level 52 Ninja, 51 Scholar, and 45 Dragoon, and don't really want to level one of the other jobs (Reaper, Dancer, Dark Knight, and Sage interest me, none of the other level 1 classes do).
Reaper, Dancer, and Sage would all be overleveled for this content, and I can't get DK until I get to Ishgard, in another 80 quests, so I don't have the promise of leveling that to entertain me. I think I read that I don't gain access to level 55 job quests until I get to Heavensward? So I won't be able to do those anymore.
Everyone talks about how good the MSQ is, specifically the MSQ of the expansions is, and searching online and through the reddit, everyone says how much of a slog ARR (kind of agree, really only got tedious after you find Sid) is, and how it is in the running for "worst story" with the Seventh Astral Era content. I would like to get to the MSQ quests of the expansions, to get to the "good part" so to speak, and I would like to be able to do Job quests (honestly fun and engaging little stories), I would like to start grinding Daily dungeons with the DK, and soon, I would like to be in to level 60+ content so I can start using the other classes. The skip is 9 bucks, and I would gladly pay it to not do another half of ARR all over again (80 quests vs 160 for ARR).
But I have also read a lot of people say that Seventh Astral Era really sets up the entire rest of the story, and really makes it all worth it.
• My question is, how much will I not be getting in Heavensward and on if I buy the skip, and watch a youtube video or something?
• Is the 7th Astral Era really as bad as ARR? (the quest about the corrupted crystals and like 2 different "the crystal is in another castle Mario" was ridiculous)
• About how long are the 80 quests, in terms of time/effort? (Are they lots of "Use an envelope to teleport back to the basement" quests like in ARR, or all they all "go sit in a queue for 20 mins for the one dungeon no one does anymore")?
Overall I guess I am asking if skipping to get to the "good stuff" is a good idea or not?
