 | Generally we know near nothing of the city state that once lay under the Twelveswood, aka Gelmorra, but especially about the inner workings of the unique culture that formed in the caves. Personally i am really interested in the food, as the Gelmorrans must've had little to no access to common produce used in modern Gridanian cuisine. Mun-tuy beans are the only things that really have been mentioned canonically, and are stated to have been turned into some sort of fermented drink, which isnt much to go of off. The image is from the distillery that made these drinks, and as far as i have read, the mun-tuy cellars are the only gelmorran buildings confirmed in use (except for PoTD, i guess). Ive also done sidequests in Hyrstmill, where an npc explained that tonic of mun-tuy beans tasted like shit, but could be fixed with microchu leaflets. The closest thing i could find to the leaflets are ochu vines, and while they are only used in potions, a description of ochus stated that "Though too bitter to eat raw, when dried, ochu leaves can provide a flavorful accent to fish and meat dishes." I have searched for some mention of livestock, but havnt found anything. Which leads to my first question; were ochu leaves available to the Gelmorrans, or have the dead ochu found in toto-rak just invaded the place, after it was no longer used as a prison, and which meats could the Gelmorrans source, except for maybe Velodyna carp, for mugwort carp, that are described as one of the only things Duskwight and Wildwood can agree on, as both clans enjoy this dish. Hiding from the Elementals, the Gelmorrans havnt had much access to wood, except of course the mun-tuy trees that are in toto-rak, so how have foods been processed and prepared? In the case that the Gelmorrans have had a means of getting carp, it mustve sucked eating it, as the only things i can imagine is the meat being air dried or maybe been spam casted fire I on by someones weird thaumaturge uncle.
