I know we are full-on blasting Norse mythology now with that Evercold trailer, but I would still like to bring Greek mythology back to the table because I've been thinking about this since last year's Rising poem. It's been revealed that the Hydaelyn vs Zodiark saga follows the time of day, and with the events of Dawntrail and the implications of Evercold, I believe the Godless Realms saga is loosely following League of Legends ranking system Hesiod's Five Ages.
If you've been following the JP title of each expansion, you'll see the first 1 or 2 characters usually representing the expansion's color scheme (except for ARR and EW). To translate it character by character for the recent two expansions:
Dawntrail--黄金の遺産--Yellow Golden Legacy
Evercold--白銀のワンダラー--White Silver Wanderer
Hence where Hesiod's Five Ages comes in: Golden, Silver, Bronze, Heroic, and Iron.
The following quotes are copypasted from wiki:
I don't think I'm tripping to say this sounds exactly like Living Memory (earth→The Source; food→aether). On top of that, regardless of what you think of the MSQ, WoL and the Scions did have a better time than any of the expansions from the previous arc. Tuliyollal section promotes peace and harmony and DT ended on a relatively light note.
Not much to say here other than pure speculations. I don't anticipate much of a match here since EC is already filled with Nordic inspirations, but they could always cross reference. At the Fan Fest press conference Yoshida mentioned: "...metaphorically, we can also think about how a person’s heart can grow cold and icy." Makes me speculate that the residents of the Fourth might not be quite easy to deal with (it really is Heavensward 2.0).
The Japanese word of choice for this age is 青銅--Green Copper. 青 can translate to blue but in this case it's alluding to copper/bronze turning green due to oxidation. This might be the green themed expansion that some of us was asking for.
Meracydia and the World Tree expansion maybe?
英雄 = Hero. If you know Greek mythology you know Heroic Age is where all the juicy part are at. Heroes, legends, wars all rises within this era. If we are mapping the Hydaelyn vs Zodiark arc to the Godless Realms arc, this would be Shadowbringers equivalent. "Hero" would be a fitting theme for a last heightened tale before the curtain falls.
According to Hesiod, we are currently in the midst of the Iron Age. Of course FF14 won't go that dark, but it will be a very grounded way to close off the Godless Realm saga, and once again solidifies man will find their way.
As for the color it can either be Black Iron--黒鉄 (but in an off-black way so we don't clash with ShB) or Grey Iron--灰鉄.
But in the end it's all speculations and for all we know they could have went full-on with the Norse mythology timeline. I hope it's been a fun read for you, it's really just some food for thoughts while I impatiently wait for Evercold.

Golden Age - Dawntrail
Created by the immortals who live on Olympus. Peace and harmony prevailed during this age. Humans did not have to work to feed themselves, for the earth provided food in abundance. They lived to very old age but with a youthful appearance and eventually died peacefully.
I don't think I'm tripping to say this sounds exactly like Living Memory (earth→The Source; food→aether). Silver Age - Evercold
Men in the Silver Age lived for one hundred years under the dominion of their mothers. They lived only a short time as grown adults, and spent that time in strife with one another. During this Age, men refused to worship the gods and Zeus destroyed them for their impiety. After death, humans of this age became "blessed spirits" of the underworld.

At the Fan Fest press conference Yoshida mentioned: "...metaphorically, we can also think about how a person’s heart can grow cold and icy." Bronze Age - 9.0 - 青銅のXX???
Men of the Bronze Age were hardened and tough, and the deed of war and violence were their passion. Zeus created these humans out of the ash tree. Their armor was forged of bronze, as were their homes and tools. The men of this Age were undone by their own violent ways and left no named spirits; instead, they dwell in the "house of Hades".
The Japanese word of choice for this age is 青銅--Green Copper. 青 can translate to blue but in this case it's alluding to copper/bronze turning green due to oxidation. This might be the green themed expansion that some of us was asking for.

Heroic Age - 10.0 - 英雄のXX???
The Heroic Age is the one age that does not correspond with any metal. It is also the only age that improves upon the age it follows.
Iron Age - 11.0 - ◯鉄のXX???
During this age, humans live an existence of toil and misery. Children dishonor their parents, brother fights with brother...and the gods will have completely forsaken humanity: "there will be no help against evil." Hesiod finds himself in the Iron Age.
