I always found this design interesting having also done end game content in wow for a few different expansions. FFXIV combat always feels more like a dance to me than combat with how the rotations and fights are designed around this. Lots of things feel very predictable and familiar, and less chaotic which was my common experience with wow raids. I've seen some people posting here and on forums that they would like the combat changed away from the 2 minute burst rotations and for class identity to be more emphasized. Is this just a vocal minority or a pretty common desire in the playerbase?
One thing that comes to mind to me is the concept of a Time Mage class. I know people have posted about it before so won't beat a deadhorse lol, but in wow you have the ability Bloodlust which lowers everyone's gcd's and makes for a great time of high burst for a short window at your own discretion. If XIV moved away from the 2 minute burst rotations, would that make mechanics such as this something more viable in the game so it wouldn't cause clipping?
