| It's been about three years since I joined FFXIV. This is my first MMO and the only game I am playing so far, but the journey has been rewarding I didn't play as much when I joined in 2023, and I was pretty clueless about how the game worked. I am also not used to playing with people, and you do get to meet with different sorts of people here... It can be scary sometimes. I fumbled around a lot and stayed clueless until I joined raiding around late August 2024, and I just completed this final tier not long ago. It means a lot to me to complete all three savage tiers on content, and I have been improving compared to how I started (as someone who would remove skills from the hotbar because they took up space...). I still remember thinking it was impossible for me to clear M4S, but I managed to clear and reclear it in PF (and M8S in PF as well, miraculously). Clearing M12S also became a fond memory with a good-vibing static. I am very grateful to all the kind and patient people I met in PF and also to folks I later played with in statics. It's truly important to play with the right people, as everyone would say... Life-wise, a lot of things also happened over these three years. One of the drawings actually got featured on a national TV show I debuted on, in which they also filmed my hobby time... My porxie plushie and job stones were also in that show. Yet, given how I still feel hesitant about video gaming as a hobby, I try not to let my irl connections know I am overly invested in an online game (and in the very content in which you chance your luck at catching digital fish...still working on that one last fish that's on a 2-week vacation in 7.5, guess which one?). I'm at a crucial turning point in my career, so I will probably need to be more careful about balancing out my gaming time from now on. That being said, having experienced how time- and energy-consuming an MMO is, I'm not interested in trying any other games at all. I share very few common interests with folks I play with because of that, but I am nonetheless happy that they included me in and acknowledged my improvement and performance, especially in raiding, since lacking gaming literacy and experience has been a huge complex for me. I hope I will overcome that feeling of inferiority one day. I didn't realize I had made so many drawings for my WoL, probably more than what's included here. I like dressing her up in uncreative artifact gear (the lv50 and lv90 SMN sets are very good!) and as a pig when we raid (hoping people might get less mad at me... practically, easier to spot where the character is). Also sharing my cosplay for her! It was an ambitious project as a beginner at cosplay. I commissioned the pieces but had to assemble them. The grimoire is particularly heavy irl, but in-game WoL can hold it with one hand! Thank you for a great community, and hope we will continue to enjoy the journey Side note, it appears that as I finally get the hang of how rotations and the 2-minutes work, the game is going to change that system in the next expansion... I look forward to learning new things...less clueless this time! submitted by /u/Sapphire_Aizawa [link] [comments] |
