Anyone else see this resemblance in the Yok Huy?

Ok so we all know Tural is based on Polynesia/South America. Water makes things wet. Very obvious. But I’m going through the expansion and the more I hear about the Yok Huy the more I see a resemblance to conquistadors/maya. Like they’re a blend of them. Let me explain.

Conquistadors:

Enslaved natives

Depleted land of its resources and then bouncing, leaving the natives to deal with the ruined land

War mongering

Obsessed with finding the El Dorado or the golden city but many dying in the process of searching

Yok Huy:

Enslaved the pelupelu

Depleted the Mamool ja’s home of its resources then leaving them to struggle

War mongering (past them atleast)

Obsessed with finding the golden city but many dying in the search.

Like…it’s almost one to one. Now I understand the Aztecs also enslaved other people and were war mongering but I think the key is the golden city part.

As for the Mayan influence, it’s clear (at least to me) in the aesthetic/architecture. Oldest civilization on the continent, was the biggest until something happened to them that killed them in droves (Biggest mystery of the maya is what happened to them and no one but us knows what really stopped the Yok Huys expedition or why they died on mass trying to find the golden city) and while they’re civilization is still around, they are only found in the highest peaks in one city so to the common person, they might as well be gone. Plus their ruins are eeevvvveerrryyywhere and very prominent, current cultures even implementing them into their own lives and architecture. Now the mayas ruins aren’t as prominent or abundant but still very distinctive and the Aztecs definitely used some of their spots.

I’m a huge history nerd so seeing these similarities is really exciting, especially in the creative ways they implement them. But the point of this post is basically, am I crazy for thinking the Yok Huy are a possible blend of conquistadors and Maya or am I just crazy?
