So this morning I finally got through all of ARR and started the MSQ for HW now, and I have some thoughts I wanna get out lol.
First I clocked in at 104 hours, which is insane to me. Normally for a FF game that is like a full 100% play through so I'm lowkey flabbergasted that I had so much time put into just this first expansion! I did a lot of the side quests but once I realized how far left togo in the MSQ I solely focused on the MSQ after getting my Lancer upgraded to Dragoon @ LV 30. I honestly feel like I still know like nothing about this game or how it works lmao and it is very overwhelming, so I think I will continue to just focus on the MSQ for now. I would like to get into DoL/H jobs but not sure if it would be worth it to do it yet or just wait til I am up to date with the MSQ.
I really liked the MSQ for the most part. like it wasn't better than a lot of FF base stories but it was enjoyable and I really came to adore the cast of characters because of all the time you spent with them! it definitely was a slog at times. it was really a slog doing the post-Ultimate Weapon quests. while I did enjoy the hard raids and dungeons, I didn't love that there were so many to do. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed how they expanded the world and expanded on the characters, and I understand it sets up HW, but just a tad too long for my liking. Especially the Crystal Tower mandatory sidequests. I really liked the concept of doing the 24-person massive raid, but after doing a lot already I was a little burnt out after finishing that detour.
At this point, I am definitely invested and completely plan to play all the expansions, so the question I have now, should I just buy the game and subscription to open up ore of the features? or should I just try and finish the MSQ. Also, I am wanting to try a different martial class, should I wait until the new job is lelevel up to 50+ before using it for the HW MSQ, or could I use it? Probably a stupid question, but I have never played an MMO before so this is all really new. I love this game though. I can't believe how much of it is just free.
