I'd like to direct everyone's attention to the following image shown in the keynote of the fan fest:
Now, I saw this image as a little joke. With the addition of evolved mode, every single job currently in the game could be considered a new job. So I ask: Why is blue mage in this image?
Now, you might be thinking: "Random person on the internet, they have already confirmed that blue mage will not be getting access to evolved mode. Why bring this up?" Because I think that while they were not lying, strictly speaking, they were not necessarily being entirely forthright either. Blue mage (and beastmaster as well, though maybe not on launch) won't be getting an evolved mode. It will instead get an unlimited mode. While in unlimited mode, the blue mage will operate exactly as a normal job would, have the same level cap as everything else, and be able to participate in all normal content. You will, at any time, be able to switch back to limited mode, which will lower your level back down to the current limited maximum and give you access to blue mage exclusive content.
I, of course, could be, and probably am, completely off base. For all I know, this image was just a reused image (which, given that the jobs are all in their dawntrail getups, is very likely) and no other intent was present. I don't normally pay that much attention to promotional material, so that's very possible.
What brought this possibility to mind was the thought of how easy it would be to do this with how the beastmaster currently looks like it is designed. All you would really need to do with beastmaster to make it unlimited is lock the three battlehorns to specific pets (or make the pets have no bearing on which abilities each battlehorn has) and you have the basis for a normal job.
Also, I think that Zero (as paladin/reaper) and Ryne (as the other new job) may be rejoining the Scions, story wise, and if Zero comes back as her reaper/paladin pairing, the current party paladin, G'raha Tia, will need a new job, and what better new job is there for an all-rounder than blue mage?
