Could it be that Hydaelyn made the moon into a spaceship, not for the Final Days, but as a contingency, should the "solstice" Halmarut explained happen?
Hydaelyn knew that Meteion sang her song of oblivion out in space, so evacuating people from the Source would have just brought them outside the partial protection Etheryion had, out into the cosmos with no protection at all.
And the entire moon is a bit big just to take the WoL to Meteion's hiding place, a smaller ship would have been much better.
But if all the reflections collapse into the Source, the moon might actually be useful in evacuating the Source's people from this reset Halmarut told us about... assuming the moon doesn't just get rejoined alongside the planet, either because it has something built into it that isolates it, or just due to getting far enough away to get out of range of the rejoining.
As the one having caused and upheld the sundering, she must have had at least an inkling that with her gone, the barriers would eventually fail.
