I recently read an article on the savage clear rates and I was really surprised that JP clear rates are so much higher than NA and EU clear rates. But as I took a step back, I realized that that isn't such a big surprise at all. I think if we want to improve as a community, we really need to learn from how the JP mentality.

1. The group comes before the individual

It is well-known that East Asian culture is collectivist and people prioritize the group over the individual. Western society is very individualistic and people just selfishly think about their own benefits. In Japan, everyone puts the family before themselves. They think of their country before themselves. In FF14, they think of the party before themselves. So they won't risk crazy strats just so they can get a bit more DPS. That never happens in JP.

2. They really emphasize respect

In Japanese culture, from a very young age, Japanese people are taught to value family members and strangers with huge respect. They bow down when meeting strangers. In duty finder, this means they want to respect the strangers they got grouped with and respect their time. That means everyone tries to respect each other's time and so they do their best to finish the instance as safely and quickly as possible. In Western society, since everyone is individualistic, that means that people don't care about others and don't care about finishing the instance as quickly as possible, and only care about their own enjoyment. If seven people care about finishing it as quickly as possible, and one doesn't, that one doesn't is going to drag everyone down.

3. They are very collectivist so everyone follows the same rules

Because Japanese culture is so collectivist, everyone follows the same strategies. That means everyone does things the same way so there are no surprises. For example, they have macros and everyone follows those macros and know what to do. In Western society, because the culture is very individualistic, people do their own strategy and the result is a mess because no one knows what others are doing and have to keep learning about new strategies.

In conclusion, the JP community mentality is superior to the EN community mentality. If NA and EU want to improve, they need to start learning from JP and be less individualistic and selfish.
