For those unaware, the crafted gear for 5.2 was shown on the special site for it and, lo and behold, the tank is a Gunbreaker and is using a retextured Forgiven Manatrigger.
This marks the second time this model has been reused since the class came out less than six months ago. It's already bad enough that they reused the weapon model for Alexander Ultimate, but they're reusing it again a patch later for a crafted weapon?
By comparison, Red Mage and Samurai had Dreadwyrm weapons added after the jobs were added to the game, prior to the release of Unending Coil of Bahamut, so they could have Ultimate Dreadwyrm weapons that matched the rest of the jobs. They also had brand new models made for the Ultimate Weapon's Refrain, completely unique from anything else they had.
Meanwhile, Gunbreaker (and I assume Dancer will be getting a reused model again) has not received the same level of attention as previous jobs. They haven't gotten any weapons modeled after the old trial weapons and they've reused the same model twice now. I understand that they are adding a lot of new side content and reworking stuff, but I don't believe it's that difficult to model and texture weapons. Humanoids and monsters, sure, but not weapons.
I do not like this precedent that Square Enix is setting for gear design going forward. It's a slippery slope that is getting steeper and steeper.
