Whoever Thought Of Hrothgar Naming Convention... Thank You!

I was unlocking the Gunbreaker job a few days ago (just recently returned to FFXIV after not playing for about a year).

And just as I was finishing the first quest I realized the main Hrothgar's name is Radovan (somehow it blew past me though the whole quest).

That's a Serbian name! Or rather an old Slavic name to be precise, but most common in Serbia.

I'm born and raised and still living here in Serbia, and seeing our names in video games is a very rare thing, and in most cases it turns out to be some Russian (most of the times bad guy) character.

Seeing this awesome Hrothgar offer to teach me how to become a Gunbreaker and have the name such as Radovan, really brought some unique joy to my heart.

Well, to be honest at first I laughed out loud really hard, Radovan is a name most common with older Serbians who were born or live on the country side.

Something like southerners for you US folks.

And then I remembered how FFXIV tends to have naming conventions for their races.

And lo and behold, after a google search I was very pleasantly surprised!

Hrothgar DO have slavic first names!

And then just looking at the examples given, brought some more joy (and laughter) to my heart.

Ivica, Zoran, Bojan, Zdravko, Milorad (the last one being another name that's most commonly found on the country side with oldern Serbians, and one a lot of younger Serbs find to be funny).

All of these are very common in Serbia!

So, just like I wrote in the title, whoever came up with this idea, THANK YOU!
