My son came upstairs from his room and said he's not having fun in FFXIV anymore... I asked why and he said "too many bots".
I was confused... bots are rarely seen, right? They hide in odd places and generally don't seem to do anything. So I asked my son to clarify and he said just spent half an hour trying to kill Mudpuppies for his Hunting Log but as soon as one spawned, it was pulled and defeated within seconds... But no one was visible.
He said it's happening more and more and they're ruining his game.
I thought he was being melodramatic, and TBH he spends too much time on it right now anyway. But I was curious so I logged in on my own character and he's right, these characters with gibberish names are everywhere and I just took a lot longer than I normally would to get a Myotragus Billy for my hunting log because sure enough, something out of sight is killing them the second they spawn.
Has anyone else noticed this? Who are these guys who teleport around and hide underground killing enemies over and over again?
