Im returning to the game and trying to pick a job to focus on.
I know it sounds silly, but in MMOs, I've always liked the feel of being the last man standing/soloing content meant for groups. In WoW as a pld I would solo content meant for players 5 levels higher, in FF11 I would use utsusemi on Ninja to absorb boss damage and sustain myself. I know ff14 is well-balanced, and on a high level that's not really doable, but im wondering which job would best allow me to survive and sustain myself in tough battles/battles gone wrong, while still doing some damage.
I took pld to 50 when the game came out and really liked the high def and heal of course - definite high survivability there.
Red mage is cool and obviously has a good balance of sustain and damage output, but unless rdm has any good "oh shit" buttons, I feel like maybe the health pool and defense isnt quite high enough?
Are there any DPS classes that could kite or use spells to absorb/mitigate big damage? Or am I basically going to have to play a tank to get what I want?
Thanks!
