The worst thing about buying extra retainers would be leveling and gearing them.
If you have you normal two at 80, then all additional ones you hire should also be 80, and come with appropriate gear for their job.
If this were the case, I'd be inclined to buy more, but not if they arrive as level 1's
I'd even consider a boost for them if it was available, for $15.
