I don't post a lot, I tend to keep my head down and just let things play out but I feel the need to provide my feedback on this, and I want to do it in its own thread so the devs know there's a lot of frustration here.
Apparently a small minority of players couldn't understand the job on Day 1 and complained, the devs saw the complaints and decided something MUST be done. Weeks go by, people play something else, and the Viper mains emerge -- Viper mains enjoy the job, then the job is neutered on Savage release day. Completely neutered! Fixing it for who? The people who weren't going to main it anyway?
Noxious gnash was the only part of the job that required some skill and forethought in order to land two ouroboros inside buff windows. Now, you can literally just press the glowing buttons to do a perfect rotation. We had 2 things to juggle, our positioning, and that debuff - it felt great before, now it feels like it's almost as braindead-easy as Summoner because positionals aren't hard and now the job plays itself...
Why? Why neuter the only thing about this class that took ANY skill?
Why were you even considering removing its positionals when the job had barely gotten into our hands? Give people time to get used to new things and stop being so trigger-happy on sweeping changes that no one wants.
Hundreds of thousands of us don't complain because we're happy with things - no one writes a good review for a decent Big Mac, we write lousy reviews for trash experiences. Unless thousands upon thousands of players are saying something needs changes, please stop and think before completely gutting classes - or better yet, put out official polls that will give you a bigger sample size than just the small minority who even know these forums exist.
It sucks being told stuff like "you guys asked for this" when, really, we didn't. It's like getting the thoughts from less than 1% of the playerbase and deciding they're generalizable when they really aren't.
If your internal database suggests VPRs weren't performing nearly as well, don't neuter the class - work on how you present class info and the job guide. The in-game story quest tutorial barely taught anything either since you don't even unlock the actual kit until level 100 - another issue for another thread on another day.
We begged you not to remove positionals because the sheer amount of them is FUN on Viper - we didn't say "get rid of the only other form of skill expression" - we were saying leave it all alone, its fun as is, trust in your own game design!
The speed at which you caved on the design of Viper and decided it needed change is really disheartening as a veteran player. You don't seem to care about the game being interesting for us as long as the sprouts who refuse to read tooltips don't unsubscribe.. It's like you don't play the game, if you can't understand why this change would make the class boring.
