ARR was better than the expansions, because it was new and had that new game shiny feel. Expansions just expanded upon it instead of being sequels that reinventthe wheel.
Stormblood was the best expansion, as it dealt with the big bads: The Empire and Ascians’ control over it. Everything in Shadowbringers was a filler: collect the different Dragon Balls to bring night to the area. What stopped them from requiring one Dragon Ball to bring the whole First to night? They wanted to introduce us to the lore of a world we won’t come back to? Fillerrr.
