So, I have looked all over for this answer, but for the most part, it seems that people run into the same errors when dealing with expansions, as opposed to a new game. So, I am turning to you guys, and seeing if I have options before I turn to whichever Support I need to.
Long story short, I am a new player. I've always enjoyed the Final Fantasy series, and figured I'd give the MMORPG a try. Cool, whatever, I went ahead and purchased from Steam, which seems to be my main issue here. I bought the FFXIV Online Starter Edition (North America), which includes the all of the expansions up to Shadowbringers. I have two CD keys, one for the expansion, and one for the base game. After a little trial and error, I have discovered that using the FFXIV Client from steam is not (apparently) the right way to do it, and that I have to use Mog Station. Unusual, but hey, Security, right? So, I've run into the error S3802 on Mog Station. I had that same error with the FFXIV Client that I downloaded from Steam. Well, except it's i2501.
So, what am I doing wrong, here? I have a brand new account with Square Enix, and thus have never purchased any content. The Steam email is not the same as the Square Enix account, does that matter? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I'll just take my chances with both support teams, but I'd really rather troubleshoot this process before taking it to a possibly unhelpful support.
