Long time FFXIV player, on and off. Ive played through all the expansions as every tank class, and a few of the DPS classes with BLM being my main prior to a couple weeks ago.
I decided to start a Healer becuase when waiting in que, it always seemed to be waiting on a healer to join. With two kids and not much time to be waiting arounf i finally decided to buck up and make a healer so i could play on my schedule.
It was rough going at first as im on a ps4, and getting set up to transition between selecting enemies, friends, and even other alliance groups was alot to wrap my head around while also manipulating the cross hotbars so that i wasnt trying to heal an enemy (self-cast) or attack a party member. But man when it clicks, it is intense. It is a non stop ride from start to finish even when grinding dungeons. Let me explain.
Start off in dungeon, pull a buff card and decide which party member it goes to once tank pulls. Throw regen on tank as he grabs aggro and switch to the attack, throwing out dots and a few gravities. In between using OGCD to pop heals and then another regen on tank. While focusing on pulling cards of the correct type to buff my party, attacking mobs and dodging attacks. Ive never been so busy with a class in ffxiv (yes even monk)
So TLDR: Try out a Healer if you want something new and exciting. AST at least is a lot more fun then i expected, even while leveling by "grinding" dungeons. I will admit, solo play (primarily hunts for me) is boring, but i almost always play ffxiv to play with a group.
