Some mounts rarely drop. I have met a lot of people that did a boss 100 times and still didn't get a mount. So instead of having them waste several evenings they could have enjoyed themselves with, I think it would be in everyone's best interest to allow them to receive or buy the mounts from someone else so people get what they want and they can spend their time on something more enjoyable (instead of "hoping" to get rewarded). It's a win-win situation since this option does not realy unbalance the game itself and people could even make a business from selling them (good for in game economy since more ways to make gil, leaves more room for profits on those who prefer to concentrate on crafting or selling materials and get less competition).
