So this story is actually two screw ups, the first one came a few months back when I bought an FC house because I got a few friends into the game and thought it would be fun to have a house together. Well, all the friends quit playing after only a few weeks and I was stuck with an empty FC and a house that was tied to it.
So now I'm looking for a new FC to join and I figured I have to get rid of the FC house. I still like having a house though, so I went and bought a personal house using all of my money I have left. Here's the second screw up: I thought I'd get 80% of the gil I paid for the FC house back because I thought I remembered reading that somewhere, so I figured I wouldn't be too bad off for gil. This assumption was wrong, it turns out. You don't get any money back for voluntarily relinquishing an estate, you only get that money if your estate was automatically removed.
So after hitting the relinquish estate and the confirm button, I'm sitting there thinking, "Huh. Where's my money? Am I lagging? Will it be mailed to me?" Then I did a quick Google search and found out the truth. Not only am I dumb, but now I'm also dumb and poor.
