So I've been working on my relic staff quest over the weekend. Last night I was at the part of the quest where I had to queue up for a battle against a Hydra in, I think, Holminster. I popped into queue and then went to level my Archer because usually it takes a while and I've been wanting to level archer. After about 40 minutes, I got the message stating the party was ready. I clicked my blm job switch macro, and jumped into the battle. Four or five minutes later, the battle was over, easy peasy. I checked my journal, but it still showed that I had to fight the hydra. I was very, very confused. "I just did this", I thought to myself. "What did I do wrong?" I checked the map, and checked which dungeon I just did, and everything was right. I was furious, I couldn't figure out what I did wrong. I /shutdown'd right on out of the game and went to do dishes, my mind running with what I must have done wrong. "Did leveling archer before somehow glitch it? I'm sure I was black mage when I did the quest. I'm sure " and that's when it hit me. When I switched back to BLM, my macro did not include the "Unfinished Relic Staff". It included my level 62 staff. The quest specifically stated to complete it with the unfinished staff equipped.''
tl;dr I queued up for the relic staff battle but didn't even have it equipped. Wasted 45 minutes of my evening over something I could have prevented.
Anyone have some tasty "today I fudged up" stories?
