Life for everyone is turned upside down. I, myself am a hospital employee, deemed necessary to work. My usual environment is the Cardiac Cath Lab, so the whole COVID experience has not impacted us much, save for fewer procedures and emergencies. Last week we all got transferred to different COVID units to help care for the sick. I spent time in the ICU with the sickest patients, helping where I could, going into the patients rooms and dealing with this virus up close and personal. I am totally out of my environment. Helping others feels great, and I'm really happy I get to help those in need because that's my calling in life (maybe that's why I play tank and healer classes).
This being said, I have my own family at home to worry about. The last thing I want to do is to bring anything home to them. Isolation is coming up for me, I'm just taking this one day at a time.
After the kids go to bed, my wife and I log in to Coeurl on FFXIV and for the first time during the day, I feel an escape... I feel like I can forget everything going on, and relax... COVID isn't in Eorzea, I can be social again, and be around groups of people without wearing a mask (unless it looks good with my glamour) I want to just thank the community and the people who have made this wonderful game for giving me the escape I need right now because the reality of my day to day scares the fuck out of me... I hope to see some of you in-game, let's have some fun!
