It's 02:00 in my country right now and I feel the urgent need to write this. This game is incredible. Amazing. Outstanding. I'm enjoying it to the fullest and I can say for sure that Final Fantasy XIV has made my past year a lot more bearable. Let's start from the beginning.
One of my roommates plays, and he insisted that I should try the game. My past experiences with MMOs had been brief and tedious, maybe because free trials were bland (World of Warcraft I'm looking at you), free to play games were... well... It was a bad experience, and the subscription model was not helping. But this summer I decided to give it a try, and started the free trial up to level 35.
In summer, I came back to my town, and I don't really have much to do, so COVID had little impact in my life at this point. However, being in my house since march, with a complicated family situation, did overwhelm me. A Realm Reborn became my place of tranquility in the afternoons; I could progress through the MSQ without the need of paying a lot of attention, and enjoyed a lot of the worldbuilding. I hit level 35, bought the game (just the next day the new free trial was announced, lucky me), and kept playing until the end of 2.0.
In august I had the chance to go see my girlfriend (we live in different countries) for a month, and when I returned, Heavensward was there to comfort me, to keep me busy. I've had a pretty relaxed semester in college, since I'm doing the final project, and this game has managed to be my safe place. I'm in love with the characters, the plot, the world... I'm now near the end of patch 5.0, and can't wait to keep adventuring with the scions, invest more time in my FC and meet kind people, know where the story will go, and, in the end, continue enjoying this beautiful game, this wonderful experience that, I hope, keeps getting better and better.
Thanks for reading, and sorry if there's any typo; English is not my mother tongue.
