Thanks To The Quarantine Lasting For Months, I Finally Had The Time To Start Playing Ffxiv....

I used to play several MMOs for years and years when I was a wee lad, but naturally as I grew older, I found myself having less and less gaming time, so I was pretty much forced to stop playing them (I resubbed to WoW classic for nostalgia for 3 months). I had my eye on Final Fantasy XIV for years, and always heard good things about it, but I just simply didn't have the spare time to actually start playing it while still having time for other games as well. """"Thankfully""""" I'm now forced to work from home until at LEAST June due to the virus outbreak, so one day I realized "hey, this might be the best time to give the game a try". Registered a free account 5 days ago, and jumped in.

TLDR game is an absolute blast, and I wish I had jumped in sooner. There are a lot, I mean a LOT of things to learn, especially for someone like me who is used to WoW but damn the game is really really well done. There are SO many QoL stuff that I desperately prayed to be included in WoW. I actually shouted out "OH FUCK THAT IS SO HANDY" like every 10 minutes or so. Graphics are gorgeous, UI is very customizable, music is great, etc. I'm still have a metric shitton of questions, but I'm pretty much hooked. I'm really looking forward for the next few monts.

Some highlights of my time as a sprout:

  • Sold all outdated gear thinking I wouldn't need them anymore, was forced to do a walk of shame in my underwear when I picked up mining and realized that it doesn't work the same way as professions do in WoW

  • Had the biggest "FUCK YES" moment of the year when I found out about the "HUD Layout" menu.

  • Left a comment in a random guy's house when I heard some sweet Nier music blasting

  • I always used to log out in WoW by going to an inn and lying down in the bed, even though it technically did nothing extra. I bought the full game the moment when I saw my inn room and that you can actually log out by sleeping in the bed.

Can't wait for the rest of the journey
