Hi!
I wanted to give some feedback on my experience as a returning player to FFXIV. The new content I have seen is awesome and it's really exciting that Endwalker was already announced. I remember the gap after Stormblood seemed fairly long and the new features for Fall are extremely promising!
However I still feel PvP suffers quite a lot. I can really see an uplift with all the additions since Stormblood, the rework of the skills and soon the new small scale map which is my favourite next to the new Sage class so far!
Here are my 2 suggestions which could improve the diversity and also give players a viable option to reduce queue times substantially in times when they are very high which is the case for a lot of times even in peak EU hours on the server Cerberus I play.
- Open up The Feast (3) Custom Arena maps to normal queues instead of locking them exclusively to 2x4 player parties. When I saw that they are different locations I became excited but I'm more of a casual player who loves games with PvE AND PvP content. The quality of FFXIV is incredible but sadly those queue issues take away a lot resulting in people quitting the game looking for another MMO. It really is a shame since this game looks so beautiful and I had a very memorable time.
- Replicate a trust system just like the one for PvE dungeons for PvP content and include NPC enemies. This obviously needs to be discussed in terms of balancing so if 2 people queue it could be 2x3 NPC characters and 2x1 player character which would be similar to Dissidia creating a duel atmosphere.
-> Another option on that one could be to then use another map for a duel (if resources allow for that).
And in case 3 people queue there could still be a short queue time until the 4th player has been found for a 2v2 match (+4 NPCs) etc. and so on.
The big maps take especially long to queue and if there could be NPC options this would help the game a lot I think!
- I know this sounds like a uneducated guess suggestion but in case data centres or server are not combined for queues in PvP, maybe this could be something to take into account when changing the infrastructure so the queue times could be shortened? I'm sure this has already been discussed or at least gotten a look but maybe not...
Thank you for reading and hopefully the team will take a look at it for upcoming plans for the direction of the game. I understand that PvE is a big focus but it really makes a new player base excited when PvP content is announced and I can definitely see a trend in listening to us in regards to PvP itself and hope for the best that it gets better and similar to WoW type PvP at least map wise or queue time wise somehow even if a band aid solution has to be found due to the nature of the game.
Best wishes
