Ideally we would have a wider variety of voices since many of them sound very similar, but because that would be a lot of work I think a faster and easier benefit to character creation would be to pool some voices together from multiple races.
For me it's a glaring issue because I play a babyface midlander.
Unfortunately all of the midlander male voices are deep grunts, except for #2 which has a very nasally "juvenile delinquent" vibe which is great if you're the toady for a villain in a high school anime... but my WoL is a softspoken scholar.
This boy cannot make any of the sounds that midlander hyur are limited to.
It's a bit jarring when I take damage or play on a physical job and strange deep voice comes out.
Ideally, there would be voices with more reserved, soft, or dignified voice ranges instead of the very narrow range available now, but if I could access the male viera voices it would be enough to have something more fitting than what's currently available with race restrictions.
