Story Skipper Stops Skipping And Regrets His Life Choices

Hey yall, I wanna share a story with you. So I've been playing 14 for a few months now and I've had a love hate relationship with it. I love the dungeons and raids but as someone who (used) to not care about story in mmos I was put off by the sheer amount of talk to this guy quests. I was used to wow quests in that you basically just kill a ton of stuff but ff14 was different and I hated that. Adding on that everything was tied behind the story and that ultimately made me quit.

Until I realized something, why don't I care about story? Is it because I just want to do dungeons and raids all the time? Why do I care about it in other games like skyrim and witcher 3 but not this one? Is it because its my first ever final fantasy game? So I decided to give the game another shot. This time as a paladin (I decided to face my tankxiety). I am 25 ish hours in and am loving the story. It started out a little slow but its picking up now. I'm about to go into the dungeon where you save the elder sylph. Whats crazy is that all I've done is the msq and like one daily and im level 38 and am on a level 22 quest. They really give you a lot of xp on preferred servers.

There's lots of characters with mini arcs that I like too. Like laurentius, he basically sells Intel to the empire and he right after you defeat him he realizes what he's done is bad and he confesses himself to the twin adder (side note does anyone know what happened to him???). Its not much but I found it kind of heartbreaking given how his mom died when he was young and he felt he made no difference with his previous job.

Anyway thought I'd share that with anyone who cares. My name is Manduin Wrynnn on Diablos in Crystal so if by any chance you see me dont be afraid to say whats up. Id love to make some friends some day. I'm glad I'm finally enjoying this game.
