I played ffxiv through the free demo on steam. I'm thinking about buying the starter edition so I can slowly enjoy the base game with online features. Thing is, I keep reading that it's best to start all over again and buy it through the SE store so I can get better deals. I kind of wish I knew this before, because the beginning of the game is really slow and I'm not looking forward to start all over again, but if the SE version has more benefits than steam I would make an exception.
Would love to hear some advice on this before I buy it!
