Not sure where a speculation thread goes or if it warrants its own post but I will make one anyway so please bear with me.
First of all I hope you're enjoying patch 5.2 so far, as I know I am. With the recent patch more of the Eden story has unfolded and with the new information gleam from its event I can now make a far more reliable prediction of who the final antagonist of the Eden raid will be: The Witch of Time Ultimecia
It is revealed that Gaia has no real recollection of fighting us as the Voidwalker in the Descent encounter and that she hears a mysterious voice within her head that acts as the source of her power, as Gaia claims the power she wields is not her own. This idea of possession and the fact that Gaia's magic primarily takes the form of timer based attacks as seen in both her encounter and in a cutscene of her killing a mob via delayed void magic, this directly parables the FF8 character Edea who is possessed by the Witch Ultimecia. Moreover Ultimecia is capable of both Time and Space manipulation, as such the voidgate mechanics in both Descent and Iconoclasm further support this as both these encounters have displayed a higher level of voidgate manipulation then any other encounter thus far. And of of course this being a FF8 inspired tier with even Tetsuya Nomura having a hand in Gaia's character design having the big bad of FF8 be the main final encounter of the raid series makes perfect sense.

It is very likely that Gaia will take a similar position in the FF14 version of this encounter, being bound beneath the Voidsent form of Ultimecia
