So the second quest in the Werlyt storyline in 5.4 was basically a conversation with the purple haired Raen that got conscripted into the imperial military. She talks about Gaius’ adopted children, her friends. She talks about the one really nice Roegadyn officer. She mentions she was at the Praetorium when it was destroyed. She has fond memories of all these people...and the Warrior of Light killed all almost of them.
Gaius’ children were killed fighting you, and while it was the Oversoul that killed them it was because of you that it was used. That really nice Roegadyn officer was none other than Mr. Cape Highwind himself: Rhiathyn; who you personally killed. It was your attack on the Praetorium that led to Lahabrea destroying the Praetorium killing many of her coworkers and possibly friends, and that’s not including the imperial soldiers that you killed to even get there and the fact that she herself was almost killed.
This poor girl lost pretty much everyone close to her or that she liked...and you just have to stand there and smile knowing that it was you who killed them or caused them to be killed, and you can’t say or do anything about it.
That one quest did the most to actually humanize most of the Garleans from ARR, and actually make you feel bad for killing them. You know it had to be done, but you can’t tell me you listened to that girl talk and reminisce without feeling like shit.
