I have new “a ha!” moment about the Shadowbringers main theme and why it’s different from the others.
With Answers, Dragonsong, and Revolutions, Soken and the dev team have said that the voice of Hydaelyn is the voice we hear —Susan’s voice, and that she is essentially crying out to her children or guiding them.
But Shadowbringers’ main theme does not follow this pattern. I’ve read some theories that suggest it’s Zodiark singing and others still that suggest its Emmet-Selk. Both plausible.
I’m gonna go one further and say that it is the 14th member of the convocation —us, if indeed we are said person and that the song we are singing is the song that was used to summon Hydaelyn against Zodiark.
Answers plays during the summoning of the 12 at the fall of Dalamud and then again at the summoning of Shinryu. Good King Moogle Mog arises from the singing of a song by the moogles. So perhaps faith can be applied through song.
Examining the lyrics of the Shadowbringers’ theme does support this, not the least of which are the phrases “fall from grace” and “paradise lost” which suggests being severed from the perfection that was Amaurot and the world before the sundering.
What do you guys think? Is there any evidence of music being used in creation magic I might have missed? How might this theory not work?
I’m happy to dive into the lyrics in more detail as well, but this was getting a bit lengthy. Lol!
Opinions are fine, just remember to be kind.
