And I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, saying I like it is going to get me some downvotes and some negative comments in here but I do not care. I'll revisit my thoughts after it has settled for a couple of days but I can't say that they're going to change. What really got me is when I realized that there wasn't a single zone or part of the story that I did not like. Every expansion usually has 1 or 2 of segments in it that i really dislike but this one to me didn't have any, i liked them all. Now it's not perfect but it's good to me. Even the Hanu hanu part which I did first.
Could it have used more action segments? sure, was it a very simple story? sure but if done right even simple stories can be entertaining and I was entertained. I also enjoyed just having our character sit back and let WuK do her story, yes we're the overall main character of ffxiv and yes we still had some big parts in this story but I'm glad it wasn't centered around us. Like when bakool jaja was being an ass in early stages, the only thoughts that were in my head were " I can't wait to fight and kill him" now I was thinking that our character would fight him and I couldn't wait to humble that man.
But when we take control of WuK and kick his ass, I was surprised and satisfied because it makes sense. She's a claimant, she's one of the ones aiming for the throne, She's the main focus of our team while we are just support. She's the ones that has to go through these trials and prove that she is fit to rule, we don't, we aren't a claimant, so in that example where we fight against bakool as her, if we were our characters i feel it would have taken away from her character and her development and so Im glad it didn't happen. I also liked Koana surprisingly.
There are other areas I like to, like where we get to herritage found and we learn the what they do with souls, and honestly that and the concept of the endless really disgusts me. but I do find the concepts interesting, and I liked the comparisons to memoria and the voidsent
It's not the best expansion, but to me it's probably my personal favorite. Also who, the heck got to name the characters and these places? from the get go we meet fonta.. fontajamine? something and the names just get worse and worse, more random
Edit: give Y'shtola's english voice actress a new mic
