I just realized something about naming convention lore from FFXIV's newest expansion Dawntrail. This post will cover some spoilers (MSQ 97+) from Heritage Found, Solution Nine and the final zone of the expac, so be aware! without further ado, a wall text maybe?
This is primarily about the Milala names found in Heritage Found, Solution 9 and the final zone. Now on the source we have rhyming/rhythmic naming conventions for males (AAB-CCB / AB-CB) and females (aab ab /abb-ab) Dunesfolk and Plainsfolk respectively. At first the names seem to not have rhyme or reason at all. Names like Tokot, Rinuri, Phiniph, Ubuyu, etc. However there is a pattern, for you see. Milala names are palindromes rather than rhythmic! For male Milala the names are textual palindromes. They can be spelled foreword and backwards with one exception: Phiniph. This name is still a palindrome as phoneticly the name is pronounce Finif, so this is a exception that proves the rule!
As for female Milala, I was stumped at first. We have Rinuri and Ubuyu in Soluition Nine and of course one character in the final zone which I can't name for spoiler reasons. It wasn't until I said names out loud that I realized they are verbal/vocal palindromes! Rather than letters being the palindromes, it is the syllables. Thusly we group the parts like so: Ri-nu-Ri and U-buy-u (though the y in Ubuyu's name may be written this way because the Y is silent or it breaks up the name for pronouncing purposes).
So until we get confirmation from FFXIV lore team on this. You now have a way to roleplay Milalas and have a somewhat lore accurate name system. Males are textual palindromes (where ph counts as one letter) or CVCVC & females are a verbal/vocal syllabic palindrome or ABA.
