As explained to us: first a shard is over-aspected towards a singular element. Then, a catastrophic event of the very same element is purposely triggered on The Source. The result is a deluge/backlash that destroys the shard and its aether is absorbed into the Source. So when they show the schematic of all 7 calamities in the Exarch's chamber, they show in sequence each of the shards glowing a certain color to represent an element, followed by an elemental tether forming between shard and source. We see 6, one for each element: fire, ice, wind, earth, lightning, water (prob not in order), with the final (most recent) being a blackish/red color. While all previous calamities were singularly aspected, the most recent calamity, which culminated in Dalamud falling and Bahamut being released was which element? Was it simply just "Darkness" aka Astral? Or in otherwords a multiaspected charge or solar aspect?
Taking a step back into 1.0 lore, we know prior to the events of Dalamud, the Circle of Knowing/Sharlyan scholars reported cases of crystals becoming over-aspected around the globe, powerful monsters stirring, and other events that would indicate aether is running rampant. These are phenomena associated with Astral/Darkness aspects, where aether becomes very entropic. So the calamity that set off the 7th rejoining, what was it precisely? Dalamud exploded and Bahamut was released, but unlike a singular flood, earthquake, hurricane, firestorm, ice-age, what did Bahamut unleash that triggered a world wide event? Was it his death that exploded aether everywhere resulting in the corrupted crystals everywhere? His teraflare that he launched at Lousioux? Or was it simply the explosion of Dalamud itself? We know Bahamut is comprised of solar aether and as such had been absorbing solar aether from the Sun for millenia. So would the calamity be multi-aspected/all elements spiked towards darkness?
